[1] Includes 13 sick & dead calves in Nizhe-Cheremoshnoe and Krasnozersk, Krasnozyersk raion, Novosibirsk, with five human cases; final total >20 cattle affected. Last previous outbreak 15 years before.

[5] One death, 13 ill from butchering & consuming meat from affected cow in Pervomaisk, Kyakhty/Kyakhtiniskiy district, Buryatia, on Mongolian border; three affected cattle were butchered. In Dagestan, NE of the Caucasus, Novy Cherkei billage three villagers were affected after eating meat bought from a dealer in the capital, Makhachkala. Five cases near Novosibirsk. Official number of cases, 14; B. Cherkaskyi provided the 39 total.
[6] In June 25 people were reported ill with anthrax in Volgograd in relation to meat from Kalmykia; in September two men were affected in relation to an animal butchered in Oktyabrskiy District. In August three people were hospitalised in relation to a butchered calf with anthrax in Medvenskiy District, Kursk. B. Cherkaskyi provided a total of only 19 people; OIE 18.
