Companion Animal Surgery Fellow

Dr. Merrin Hicks BMSc BVSc MACVSc

Dr. Hicks obtained degrees in Medical Science (1995) and Veterinary Science (2000) from the University of Sydney, Australia. Dr. Hicks completed a Residency in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care (ECC), University of Melbourne Australia in 2004. She was successful in passing examinations in ECC in 2005, obtaining Membership to the Australian College of Veterinary Science (ECC chapter). Before commencing as a surgery fellow at LSU in 2005, Dr. Hicks has undertaken research towards a Masters of Veterinary Science degree, and also worked as a surgery instructor. Her current research interests are in the effects of corticosteroids on the canine colonic mucosa, and the pharmacokinetics of bupivicaine.
