The
team of highly trained and experienced individuals in the Anesthesia and
Pain Management Service are responsible for the provision and supervision
of anesthesia and pain management support to all Specialty Services within
the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and Clinics. The team is composed of two
assistant professors, one clinical instructor, an anesthesia intern, five
veterinary technicians, and one veterinary technician assistant.
The
Anesthesia and Pain Management Service employs state-of-the-art equipment
in the delivery of anesthesia. Direct or indirect arterial blood pressure
measurement, pulse oximetry, capnometry, patient-side blood gas analysis,
anesthetic gas monitoring, electrocardiography, and lithium dilution
cardiac output monitoring are some of the available monitoring modalities.
The
combination of the knowledge provided by our team of highly skilled
individuals and the use of state-of-the-art monitoring equipment used at
the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine ensures the best possible care
during any diagnostic procedure, including consultation for sedation and
pain management, or therapeutic regimen that requires the
administration of general anesthesia.
