Dr. James Maguire is Associate Professor of Medicine at the Harvard Medical School and Associate Professor of Tropical Public Health at the Harvard School of Public Health. He is a Clinical Consultant for the Congenital Toxoplasmosis Project at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, where he also is a member of the Toxoplasma Advisory Committee, and is a Senior Fellow of the Cannon Society at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Maguire also serves on the World Health Organization (WHO) Working Group for Standardization of Electrocardiographic Criteria for Chagas’ Diseases (Buenos Aires). He is Chair of the Certification Examination Committee of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.
Research Interests
Dr. Maguire’s major research interests are the epidemiology of Chagas’ heart disease and leishmaniasis in Brazil; the epidemiology and treatment of congenital toxoplasmosis; and new approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of bone and joint infections.
