Dr. Cox teaches pathogenic and clinical bacteriology and mycology in the professional curriculum and coordinates the microbiology services for the diagnostic laboratory.  He contributes to the graduate level courses in pathogenic and clinical bacteriology.  Dr. Cox received national recognition in 1986 when he received the Ralston-Purina Small Animal Research Award for his significant research with staphylococci of dogs and cats and he won the 1989 Distinguished Service Award of the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine.

Research Interests

Dr. Cox is a clinical bacteriologist whose principal areas of research include the characterization of veterinary pathogens and improving methods for identification and antibiotic susceptibility testing of clinical isolates.
