Biographic Sketch

Upon completion of his doctorate thesis, Dr. Gaschen undertook a rotating small animal internship at the University of Guelph, Ontario Veterinary College and a residency in internal medicine in at the University of Florida. He was one of the founding Diplomates of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Companion Animals. He spent over 13 years on faculty at the University of Bern, Switzerland where he became Professor and Head, Division of Small Animal Medicine. He is currently head of the Companion Animal Medicine Service here at LSU.

In the last 8 years Dr. Gaschen has focused his research efforts on the pathogenesis of chronic canine enteropathies , on evaluation of gastrointestinal motility in dogs, and on a variety of other topics in small animal gastroenterology (see January 2009 edition of La Vétérinaire, p. 14-15 http://www.vetmed.lsu.edu/Web_pdfs/2009-Jan-Feb_LaVet.pdf )
