Tully, Jr., graduated from Louisiana State University in 1982 with a BS degree in Animal Science. After receiving his DVM degree from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 1986 he practiced as an associate veterinarian at veterinary hospitals in Florida and Louisiana. Since 1987, he has been on the faculty at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine teaching in the Zoological Medicine Section of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences. Currently Dr. Tully is a Professor in the Veterinary Clinical Science Department and is Hospital Section Chief of the Bird, Zoo and Exotic Animal Service. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (Avian) and the European College of Zoological Medicine (Avian) . His MS degree in 1991 primarily involved studies on Chlamydophila psittaci diagnostic test evaluation for companion birds. He is currently involved in Chlamydophila psittaci diagnostic test and vaccine research, as well as, other avian clinical investigations. He has served as the Scholarship Chairman for the Association of Avian Veterinarians, on the Board of Directors, Veterinary School Liaison, and President. Dr. Tully co-edited two books, Ratite Management, Medicine and Surgery and Avian Medicine, 2 issues of Veterinary Clinics of North America and co-authored the text, A Technicians Guide to Exotic Animal Care. He is also CoEditor-in-Chief of the Journal of Exotic Animal Medicine. | |||
