Graduate students are expected to take graduate courses, work on research projects, publish papers in high impact journals, share lab duties, and present data in the lab meetings. The research focus will be on gene delivery, gene therapy, immune gene therapy, cell therapy, tumor-targeting, vaccine, gene regulation, and the mechanism by which IL12/other effector molecules inhibit tumor growth.
Applicants should have a BS and/or MS degree in biology, immunology, cancer biology, chemistry, biochemistry or related areas. Practical laboratory experience in chemical conjugation, HPLC purification, animal handling, and immune assays etc will be preferred. Applicants should also have GRE (>1100) and TOEFL (>550) scores (for international students) that meet the requirement by the Department of Comparative Biomedical Sciences/School of Veterinary Medicine/Louisiana State University.
Please submit your applications in advance to sli@vetmed.lsu.edu for qualification checking to avoid wasting application fees and time.
Currently, there are 6 graduate students, one postdoctral researcher, and one senior RA in Dr. Shulin Li’s laboratory. The current study focuses on developing gene and cell therapy for treating tumors or on understanding the underlying mechanism by which IL12 enhances the anti-tumor immune system
PhD student positions are immediately available to study DNA repair mechanisms in yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) and possibly mammalian cells. Highly self-motivated individuals with experience in the field of yeast genetics, protein biochemistry or molecular biology are encouraged to apply.
