The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine is seeking dynamic
people to join its Section of Radiology.
The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at
Louisiana State University is currently inviting
applications for tenure-track and clinical track faculty
positions in Diagnostic Imaging at the Assistant and
Associate Professor level. Requirements for the position
include a DVM or equivalent and Board certification or
board eligibility by the American College of Veterinary
Radiologist or European College of Veterinary Diagnostic
Imaging.
The caseload at the Veterinary
Teaching Hospital is diverse with small, large and
exotic patients making up most of its cases. The
hospital also changed over to digital imaging in 2005.
Large animal radiology is equipped with an Eklin DR
system and small animal radiology with Tru DR form Sound
Technologies. Both Vetpacs and efilm are used for image
viewing on top of the line 3 megapixel medical grade
Eizo gray scale monitors. Twenty-four image viewing
workstations are located throughout the hospital for use
with clients, in rounds or special procedures rooms. We
also feature separate ultrasound machines in both the
large and small animal sections, a nuclear imaging suite
with a gamma camera integrating to Mirage software and a
helical CT scanner (Picker) for both small and large
animal imaging and a 3-D work station. Small animal MRI
is currently performed off-site with plans for in-house
facilities in the near future. Standing MRI for horses
will be available on site in the coming summer. In
addition, our active oncology division performs
radiation therapy in ?house with an IMRT-capable linear
accelerator. Our team includes four experienced
technicians and 1 office staff. The School of Veterinary
Medicine at Louisiana State University is dedicated to
the support and further development of its imaging
division and is seeking individuals who will help us
achieve our goals in research, teaching and service.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

LSU School of Veterinary Medicine
The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) is one of 28
schools of veterinary medicine in the United States.
With over 2,000 alumni and a greater than 20,000 annual
patient case load in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital,
the SVM is well positioned to establish a vigorous
development program. The E.D. will lead the effort to
realize the SVM’s full potential in fundraising over the
next decade. The incumbent will develop and execute a
comprehensive fundraising plan involving a broad base of
supporters. The SVM administration is committed to an
accelerated build up of development capability for the
major capital campaign. The E.D. will serve on the
Dean’s Cabinet and lead a dedicated team allocated to
alumni, public relations, and website development, all
under one organizational umbrella. Two open positions
are held in reserve for the discretion of the incoming
E.D.
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Advancement and
Strategic Initiatives and working closely with other
Associate Deans, the E.D. will provide strategic counsel
to the SVM senior administration on development
strategies, and will lead and coordinate a seamless
external affairs operation for the school including
capital fundraising, the annual fund, oversight of
alumni affairs, communications and public relations, and
special events planning. The E.D. will supervise the
Assistant Director of Development, the Coordinator of

Graduate student (PhD) positions are available in the
Department of Pathobiological Sciences (PBS) and the
Center for Experimental Infectious Disease Research,
Louisiana State University (LSU), to study the host
responses in the lung against bacterial pathogens using
murine models and human cells. The PBS Department has
close ties with the LSU Agricultural Center, the
National Hansen's Disease Center, the Tulane National
Primate Research Center and LSU Medical Center in New
Orleans. The Department houses modern research
laboratories enhanced by centralized PCR and microarray
analyses, laser capture microdissection, fluorescence
and electron microscopy, laser confocal microscopy, flow
cytometry, proteomics, in vivo imaging, and BSL-3
laboratory suites. Candidates must hold a MS or
equivalent degree in Microbiology and/or Immunology. A
professional degree, such as MD or DVM along with an MS
