 Emergency Animal Shelter Closing Information

The LSU Emergency Animal Shelter is now closed to new animals and those remaining in our care are being sent to adoption centers in other states. We will vacate the building entirely on October 15, 2005. Owners who have not yet reclaimed their animals and wish to do so should contact us immediately by calling 225-578-6111. Even if your pet has been sent to another shelter, you can still get your animal back with the information we will give you. Pets sent to other areas will be available for provisional adoption, but even if your pet is adopted you will have until the end of the year to reclaim it.

If you do not know where your pet was sheltered, please visit Petfinder.com's Animal Emergency Response Network or IFAW's Hurricane Katrina Emergency Animal Shelter site to search online for unclaimed or missing pets. The Humane Society of the United States is also working to help reunite people with their pets; you can reach their call center at 1-800-HUMANE-1.
