As part of our global team, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with talented and dedicated colleagues while developing and expanding your career.

The Merck-Merial Veterinary Internship Program in veterinary pathology provides an industrial research experience to highly-qualified individuals who have interest in pathology, or related areas of biomedical research (comparative medicine, laboratory animal medicine, toxicology, pharmacology). The successful applicant will spend 10-12 weeks as an intern at the Merck-West Point research facility. The intern will observe and be involved in cutting edge scientific technologies critical to Merck’s mission of disease prevention and treatment. A presentation of findings from the pathology project will be given to the department at the conclusion of the internship.

Full-time associate veterinarian needed for rapidly growing, mixed animal practice north of Pittsburgh. This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic veterinarian seeking a caring, client-oriented atmosphere with an experienced, support team. We are searching for a well-rounded, personable, team-oriented veterinarian interested in developing programs focused on client and patient service. The opportunity exists for an associate to develop equine, camelid & large animal skills using our fully equipped ambulatory unit with mobile ultrasound and x-ray.

This practice is primarily small animal and equine, with some exotics and small ruminants. The existing facility is a fully computerized, internet (+VIN) connected hospital equipped with the latest equipment including, automated anesthesia monitoring, ECG, in house lab (the data for these is saved directly to the patient record), dentistry, endoscopy, T4, Urinalysis, Tonometry, Otoscopes(network connected to capture images and display to client). Our best assets are the people on our staff that place the patient first and excel at communications with our clients.

The practice provides mobile small animal services in addition to the full service hospital. We have two fully equipped ambulatory units and a large animal haul-in facility for minor surgical procedures. Emergencies are handled by the staff on a rotating schedule gives ample time off.

In April 2008 we moved into our new 13,000 square foot hospital. This also houses a “Pet Boutique”, obedience/agility training. Grooming is offered in a separate grooming building.

Temporary housing for an individual is available. Salary and benefits are very competitive for the right candidate. Visit MobileVet.net to meet the staff and see some of the hospital.

The area’s parks and game lands provide excellent horseback riding, camping, hiking, & hunting. The Ohio River and many lakes provide excellent boating and fishing opportunities. Some of the best white water rafting in the country is nearby in the Laurel Highlands and West Virginia.

In the winter, downhill skiing is easily accessible in the Laurel Highlands just east of Pittsburgh or in Western New York (about 2 hours North in the “Snow Belt”). Due to the geography (Ohio River and mountain ranges) the climate here is similar to Northern Virginia.

Football, baseball, & hockey are among the major league sports in Pittsburgh. Several major universities are located in the surrounding area.

The WPVMA is very active and holds regular continuing education seminars.
