Dr. Gaunt is a veterinary clinical pathologist who supervises the diagnostic services in hematology, clinical chemistry, and cytopathology to the veterinary teaching hospital and Louisiana Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. He coordinates the teaching of clinical pathology to second and fourth year veterinary medical students, an elective rotation in clinical pathology for fourth year students, and training of clinical pathology residents. Dr. Gaunt previously served as an officer in the American Society for Veterinary Clinical Pathology and on the examination committee for the American College of Veterinary Pathologists.

Research Interests

Dr. Gaunt has conducted research studies on diagnostic methods, pathogenesis of infection, treatment, and vaccine development for the tick-borne diseases of dogs caused by Ehrlichia canis and Anaplasma (formerly Ehrlichia) platys.
