Graduate student (PhD) positions are available in the Department of Pathobiological Sciences (PBS) and the Center for Experimental Infectious Disease Research, Louisiana State University (LSU), to study the host responses in the lung against bacterial pathogens using murine models and human cells. The PBS Department has close ties with the LSU Agricultural Center, the National Hansen's Disease Center, the Tulane National Primate Research Center and LSU Medical Center in New Orleans. The Department houses modern research laboratories enhanced by centralized PCR and microarray analyses, laser capture microdissection, fluorescence and electron microscopy, laser confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, proteomics, in vivo imaging, and BSL-3 laboratory suites. Candidates must hold a MS or equivalent degree in Microbiology and/or Immunology. A professional degree, such as MD or DVM along with an MS degree is highly desirable.
