The Ohio Center for Integrated Veterinary Medicine is accepting applications for a unique internship opportunity. The intern will have scheduled mentoring, primary case responsibility, access to continuing education courses, 24-hour to computer and library facilities. The intern will perform surgery, take some emergencies, and will concentrate on the integration of conventional medicine and surgery with alternative and complementary medicine, in an AAHA hospital.

The intern will follow a structured approach to understanding and applying innovative approaches to veterinary health care. Hospital cases will allow the intern to apply integrative medicine in a case study environment. The internship duration is 12 months.

Tri County Veterinary Clinic in Fostoria, Ohio is looking for a full or part-time veterinarian. Our busy, two-doctor, mixed animal practice that is located in northwest Ohio near Toledo is well equipped and features a friendly team-oriented staff including two registered technicians. We have a seventy-five percent small animal client base with equine making up a majority of the large animal duties. We are looking for someone that is interested in mixed animal medicine and surgery; however, the opportunity to focus on mainly small animal duties is available if desired. Our surgery room features a CO2 laser, isoflurane and sevoflurane anesthesia, ECG/PulseOx/Respiratory monitor, blood pressure monitor and electrocautery. The lab is fully equipped including CBC, chemistry, and electrolyte analyzers. Ultrasonography is a growing area of our diagnostic approach allowing for both abdominal and cardiac studies. We practice progressive medicine and surgery with an emphasis on thorough diagnostics and treatment. The equine portion of our practice offers ultrasound and portable radiography to service our clients. The Ohio State University, University Laboratory Animal Resources (ULAR) has opportunities for residency training beginning July 1, 2009. Biomedical research at OSU encompasses all the health sciences including the Colleges of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Biological Sciences, Social and Behavioral Sciences. The ACLAM certified training program is 24 months and designed to provide trainees with broad exposure to all facets of laboratory animal medicine. Responsibilities include providing biomedical research support to investigators and research staff, clinical support for a wide variety of species, serving as a liaison to animal care, research, and IACUC staff concerning regulatory compliance for use of research animals, participation in training to include teaching veterinary professional students as well as research staff, conducting a research project, and preparing a research manuscript. The trainee must be highly motivated, be able to work in a multi-location research support program, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
