The Saratoga Equine Veterinary Hospital is seeking applicants for a 1-year internship position, beginning June 5, 2009. Applicants must possess a DVM or VMD degree from an accredited college of veterinary medicine. The intern will receive extensive exposure and involvement in racetrack practice, anesthesia, ambulatory (including reproductive work) and the full service medical and surgical hospital. The hospital’s caseload is broad and consists of 60% racehorses, 15% polo ponies, and 25% jumpers- and dressage horses. We are a progressively expanding facility with state-of-the-art equipment. Our staff is dedicated to the highest standards of veterinary medicine and committed to providing the intern with a solid hands-on education. The intern is exposed to all facets of veterinary medicine and surgery and will be encouraged to pursue residency training in a specialty of her/his choice, but graduates planning to go into equine practice are welcome to apply. Our staff currently consists of four full time veterinarians (two with residency training, an ambulatory veterinarian, and one intern), two technicians, ICU-and other support staff.

New York State License required. Housing provided, competitive salary with benefit package (AVMA/AAEP dues, Health-and Liability insurance), one week vacation, one paid CE meeting of the Interns choice.

RESIDENCY POSITION IN LABORATORY ANIMAL MEDICINE

The Division of Comparative Medicine and Laboratory Animal Facilities (CMLAF) at the State University of New York at Buffalo is seeking candidates for an ACLAM accredited Residency Program in Laboratory Animal Medicine. CMLAF, through a Veterinary Director (ACLAM Diplomate), 2 Veterinarians, and a staff of 30 supports multi-disciplinary biomedical research in approximately 100,000 sf of AAALAC accredited facilities at two campuses and 1affiliated institution. The CMLAF maintains most species used in research and is equipped with multiple procedure rooms, surgical suites, a radiology suite and diagnostic labs.

The Resident will report to the Clinical Veterinarian and work with three veterinary technicians. Duties will include anesthesia, surgery, veterinary medicine, collaboration with researchers, IACUC duties, resource management, and other duties at the discretion of the Director. In addition, the Resident will be expected to participate in their own research project suitable for publication, teaching and training, and to complete a didactic program in laboratory animal medicine. The emphasis of the three-year program is on acquiring skills and experience that would be relevant to completing requirements for ACLAM Board eligibility.
