The University of Sydney currently has a new opportunity for a
Specialist in Small Animal Medicine.
The University Veterinary Teaching Hospital – Sydney has benefited
recently from major financial support. The Valentine Charlton Cat
Centre, which opened in 2004, has gained international recognition
as a state-of-the-art feline referral facility, offering residency
training programs in feline medicine and is generating a large
clinical research output. The $ 2.8 million Canine Centre opened in
February 2008 and includes MRI, CT, computed radiography and
videoendoscopy equipment. We provide specialist services in small
animal and feline medicine, surgery, radiology, dermatology,
neurology and ophthalmology and 24 hour veterinary care for our
patients.
This role will play a leading role in expanding the small animal
medicine referral service. It will provide clinical instruction to
undergraduates and post-graduate veterinarians in order to uphold
the Faculty's excellent reputation in Learning and Teaching.

The University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Sydney (UVTHS) has
opened an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated veterinary
specialist to join their small animal surgery team. This is a unique
opportunity to take on an important leadership role in an
outstanding, AVMA-accredited veterinary teaching hospital, in one of
the world’s most desirable cities.
The UVTHS has benefited recently from major financial support. The
Valentine Charlton Cat Centre, which opened in 2004, has gained
international recognition as a state-of-the-art feline referral
facility, generating large clinical research output and offering
residency training programs in feline medicine. The $2.8 million
Canine Centre opened in early 2008 and presents as one of the most
sophisticated teaching hospitals in the country. New equipment
acquisitions include MRI, CT, computed radiography and
videoendoscopy. The hospital is supported by an extensive range of
specialist staff in orthopaedic surgery, diagnostic imaging,
medicine, neurology, dermatology and ophthalmology.
This role will work collaboratively with Professor Kenneth Johnson
and a team of highly qualified surgical and support staff. It is a
leading role in expanding the UVTHS small animal surgery referral
service, to actively participate in the Faculty’s clinical research
programs and to provide excellent teaching to undergraduates and
postgraduate veterinarians.
