Research:

As director of the Microscopy Center I become involved in many of the interesting research problems brought to the laboratory. This involvement may be in the form of consultation or it may be direct participation in the design and implementation of the investigation. My own funded research includes a long term investigation into various aspects of the morphology of the bowhead whale (Balaena mysticetus) and an investigation of the effects of soot nannoparticles containing polyaromatic carbohydrates on cells of the mammalian respiratory system in vitro and in vivo.
