INTERNATIONAL ANIMAL LENTIVIRUS ASSOCIATION



This homepage is created as a source of information about animal lentiviruses and the IALA. The producer is Dr. Ron Snider, Professor & Veterinary Pathologist, School of Veterinary Medicine, LSU, Baton Rouge, LA 70803. Additional scientists have been requested to participate in developing this homepage with more information about the various animal lentiviruses.


This webpage is still under construction, improvements are planned and include, rapid response capacity, photographs of organ changes, and more comprehensive disease explanations.

Efforts to create a reliable back-up system are underway; anyone have any good ideas for a back-up system?

IALA:
The IALA will be an organization which exists to facilitate interaction and exchange of information to increase the knowledge of diseases caused by lentiviruses. The IALA is open to all persons interested in improving the health and economic value of any or all animal species. Membership will include veterinarians, animal scientists, researchers of basic and applied sciences, animal producers, animal health regulators, pet owners, and consumers of wholesome agricultural products.

TERMS OF MEMBERSHIP:
Three year terms
Free membership for first term
Members to receive up-dates on current research via e-mail.

The IALA is expected to evolve and change with the input of different individuals.
 73  Ron Snider will give it a go for 3-6 years, then turn the homepage over to the IALA and to whomever desires to continue this endeavor. The information provided through this Website is composed by various authors and is for educational purposes. The disease synopses and literature citations will be updated regularly at irregular intervals.

The mechanism of sending an e-mail message will serve to establish your membership in the IALA (snider@vt8200.vetmed.lsu.edu). If you wish to limit your participation to a particular animal lentivirus, please make that request. Keep in mind that this is a step-by-step process leading to the establishment of a functional list-server system or systems. Photomicrographs will be entered into these files as soon as possible as an aid those interested in supporting the diagnosis of lentivirus infection in animals.
