2009 Great Rover Road Run

The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine is hosting the Hill’s 16^th Annual Great Rover Road Run on Saturday, March 21, 2009. The Hill’s Great Rover Road Run consists of a 5K Road Run and a one mile Fun Run/Walk with Rover. Sponsors this year are Hill’s Pet
Nutrition, All Pets Hospital, the Student Chapter of the Veterinary Medical Association (SCAVMA), Subway, Varsity Sports, Bayer HealthCare, and Highland Road Animal Hospital.

The 5K run begins at 8:00 a.m., and the one mile Fun Run begins at 9:00 a.m. at the School on Skip Bertman Drive. The scenic course starts at the School and winds through the LSU campus. 

Registration Fees

*Add an additional pet or person for $5 each (one packet/group)

Pre-Registration Deadline: Wednesday, March 13

Registrations must be received by March 13 to qualify for reduced fee.

Pre-Race packet pickup and registration: Friday, March 20, from 12:00-1:00 p.m. and 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the veterinary school lobby.

T-shirts and “Doggy Bags” for race pre-registrants. Race day registrants not guaranteed t-shirts. Water and refreshments for race participants. Low-cost dog wash after the race.

Canine Competitions after the race will include Best Dressed Pet, highest jump, best trick, and more! There is a $5 entry fee for non-race participants.

Awards in each category

Dog participants must be on a leash (please, no retractable leashes); must not be in heat; must have proof of current vaccination on the day of the race; may be excluded if aggressive; and may not participate in 5K race with competitive runners.
