VMCAS/Transcript/eLOR Deadline Has Passed!
October 2nd, 2009 - The October 2nd deadline for VMCAS applications, eLORs, and official transcripts has now passed. The next dates to watch are the November 15th and 16th deadlines for the GRE scores and Supplemental Applications/Fees, respectively.

LSU SVM Bulletin is Ready!
August
18th, 2009 - The new 2009-2010 LSU SVM Bulletin is now
available for interested persons. To receive the new bulletin,
simply complete the online request form on the "Request
09-10 SVM Bulletin" web page.
Class
of 2013 Roster is Now Finalized!
June
8th, 2009 - The LSU SVM's Faculty Committee on Admissions
has filled the final seat in the Class of 2013 which is slated
to begin the professional DVM program in the fall '09 semester
on August 14th, 2009. There is a total of 87 students in this
new class.
2010
VMCAS Application Opens on June 3rd, 2009!
March
25th, 2009 - The 2010 VMCAS application will kick off on
June 3rd, 2009! For those of you who are eager to get a head
start on the application process, you can start identifying
evaluators that will submit electronic letters on your behalf.
Any and all questions related to the VMCAS application must

Application Information Now Available!
March
18th, 2009 - The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine's Admissions
web site is now updated for the 2009-2010 application/admissions
cycle. Please carefully and thoroughly read through all of the
available information on the LSU

SVM Admissions Office Re-Opened
January
5th, 2009 - The LSU SVM Admissions Office staff has returned
from the holiday break and is back in the office.

SVM Admissions Office Closed for Holiday Break
December
18th, 2008 - The LSU SVM Admissions Office will be closed
beginning December 20th until January 5th. During this break,
the admissions staff will not be able to return any phone calls,
emails or any other correspondence so please hold any questions
until after January 5th.

2009 Application Now Closed
October
2nd, 2008 - The 2009 VMCAS application closed at noon (est)
on Oct. 2, 2008. No more applications will be accepted at this
point for possible entrance into the Class of 2013.

2nd Deadline Only Days Away!

30th, 2008 - It is vitally important for all applicants
to understand that the application deadlines must be met. All
application material must be RECEVIED BY - NOT POSTMARKED
BY - the given deadlines. Failure to meet these deadlines
can result in an applicant being removed from the applicant
pool. Please remember, acceptance into any of the professional
DVM programs across the country is very difficult, as there
are hundreds of applicants being received for a much smaller
number of available seats in the upcoming classes. The first
step to the application process is submitting all material in
a timely fashion.

29th, 2008 - The new 2008-2009 Bulletins for the LSU School
of Veterinary Medicine are now available. The LSU SVM Bulletin
has information regarding undergraduate prerequisite coursework,
the application/admissions procedures, necessary GPA/GRE scores,
class statistics, the graduate programs, school history, and
much more. You can submit an online
request form to get your '08-'09 LSU SVM Bulletin today!
'08-'09
Online Status Check System Now Available
September
10th, 2008 - The 2008-2009 Online Status Check system is
now available. Applicants must submit a COMPLETED
VMCAS application in order to have access to the LSU SVM Online
Status Check feature. An account will be created for the student
once the LSU SVM Admissions Office receives an applicant's application
from VMCAS. Please allow 5-7 days for your account to be set
up after submitting your VMCAS application. More information
regarding the LSU SVM Online Status Check system will be sent
out to all applicants over the next several weeks.

Hosts 2008 Summer Career Fair in New Orleans, LA
May
26th, 2008 - The 2008 AAVMC Summer Career Fair is being
held on July 18th, 2008 from 2:30pm to 6:00pm at the New Orleans
Hilton Riverside in New Orleans, Louisiana. There will also
be two Veterinary Career Information Sessions held during the
Career Fair. At the career fair, students will have a chance
to meet with representatives from many of the Veterinary Colleges
in the country so all prospective applicants are urged to attend.

All '08-'09 applicants are strongly advised to complete the

Overall
Scoring and Admissions Changes
May
5th, 2008 - Effective in the '08-'09 application cycle,
major changes have been made to the overall scoring system used
for applicant rankings as well as to the admissions process.
The objective evaluation of the selection process accounts for
65% of an applicants overall score, with the subjective evaluation
having a 35% weight. Another major change is with regards to
the interview process. Beginning in '08-'09, not all Louisiana
and Arkansas applicants will be interviewed. Also, interview
invitations will now be extended to a select number of qualified
out of state applicants. For greater details, visit the following

Changes
to GPA Calculations
May
5th, 2008 - Effective in the '08-'09 application cycle,
changes have been made to the manner in which GPAs are calculated.
Fall '08 coursework will count towards the Required Course GPA
and Last 45 Credit Hour GPA for Louisiana and Arkansas residents
only. Fall '08 credit hours and grades will NOT
be used in GPA calculations for Out of State applicants. Please
go to "How are GPA's Calculated?"

VMCAS
Deadline Changes
April
21st, 2008 - The Veterinary Medical Colleges Application
Service (VMCAS) has changed the application deadline from October
1st at midnight to October 2nd, 2008 at noon (EDT).
All applicants must submit the VMCAS application, application
fee, and Letters of Recommendation (eLORs) absolutely no later
than October 2nd, 2008 at noon (EDT). There will be no exceptions
to this deadline. Early submission of all application material
is strongly encouraged.

Deadlines for Supplemental App/GRE Scores
April
21st, 2008 - The deadlines for the LSU SVM Supplemental
Application/Fee and GRE score submission have been moved up
to November 15th, 2008. All supplemental applications/fees and
GRE scores must be received - NOT postmarked - no later than
November 15th, 2008.
eLORS
(Letters of Recommendation)
April
21st, 2008 - Beginning in the '08-'09 application cycle,
ALL letters of recommendation (eLORs) MUST be submitted electronically
through the VMCAS application process. All applicants must have
a minimum of three eLORs submitted with the VMCAS application,
and a maximum of five. Letters of recommendation sent directly
to the LSU SVM will not be accepted.
